DataSync Suite General Questions

I am unable to log in to DataSync Suite, now what do I do?

Answer: If the loading page is not allowing you to log in:

  • You did not log out of the Suite correctly. Go to https://portal.datasyncsuite.com/extensions/logout to log out.
  • Your Zimbra is set to standard version, log in manually (bypassing the Suite) and change the preferences of Zimbra to log in with the advanced version.
  • There is a bug. If you are a Suite admin with the Suite admin extension, this will cause the loading screen to be unable to load. Please referesh the page, and the problem should be fixed.

I cannot get to the Admin UI when I type the URL into my browser.

Answer: Make sure the URL connects to the Admin UI using SSL: "https" and to port ":7071" by default.


Which browsers does the web client work with?

Answer: Firefox 1.5+ on PC, Mac, Linux
              Internet Explorer 6+ on PC (IE 8 now supported)
              Safari 2.0+ on Mac


How often are accounts backed up, and how long do you hold backups for?

Answer: We do backups nightly, and we hold a backup of an account for 30 days. After 30 days we delete the backups that are older than 30 days.


Zimbra

When will Zimbra 6.0 be available?

Answer: Zimbra 6.3 is scheduled to be released by Zimbra in late Q4 and will be available through DataSync in Q1.

More info: To ensure stability of DataSync Suite, our engineering team has determined that the best upgrade time to a Zimbra 6.0 version is with 6.3.

New features of this version include:

  • Read receipts– verify if your email was read by the recipient
  • Filter existing emails– run email filters over existing email in inbox or folders
  • Manage shared items– view email/calendar/folders/documents shared by you or others with you
  • Tabbed email compose– compose emails in separate tabs, and switch from composing emails to view/search other emails, access calendars, or other collaboration features
  • Three pane reading view– view the inbox in three vertical panes, with the reading pane on the right
  • Calendar fish-eye view– from the month view, click on a date and zoom into the calendar entries for that day
  • Calendar list view– view all appointments over a two-week period, and select multiple appointments to act upon at once

Does Zimbra connect to Microsoft Outlook?

Answer: Yes, Zimbra offers a Zimbra–Outlook connector that syncs email, contacts and calendar appointments. Outlook will also connect via IMAP.

Other mail clients that sync to Zimbra include: Apple Mail, iCal, Entourage, AOL, and Mozilla Thunderbird.

Online email clients (Gmail, Hotmail, etc.): DataSync Suite does not currently work with these online email clients, but we are looking into them for the future.


What are the other connectors to Zimbra?

Answer: Apple Mail, iCal, Entourage, AOL, and Mozilla Thunderbird.

How much storage does each account come with?

Answer: 2GB by default, but we allow pooled storage. For example, if one account needs 3GB and another only needs 1GB, there is no extra charge for the account with 3GB.


How do I find out how much space I have left in my email quota?

Answer: Below the Zimbra logo in the upper lefthand corner you should see your name with a bar below it. Hover your mouse over the bar to get the details of your usage and quota.


Can you explain alias, distribution list, and persona?

Answer: Alias = receive as, distribution list = group receive, persona = send as

More info: Aliases are secondary email addresses for one user. Distribution lists are an email address that needs to be sent to multiple people (i.e. a team). Personas are what allow users to send as their aliases or distribution lists.


Is it possible to send as a different account from Zimbra rather than my main Zimbra account?

Answer: You will first need to contact support to change your account to allow you to be able to send as any address. When this is complete, you will be able to create a persona for your account that you will be able to send as.

Does the email archiver archive emails when I send them?

Answer: Unfortunately, this is not currently a feature of the Suite. You will have to go to your Sent box and archive the email from there.


Why is my signature always below the message trail?

Answer: In the signature creator at the bottom of the screen you want to select "show above included messages." This will always put your signature in the message you are composing.


What languages is Zimbra translated into?

Answer: French, German, Italian, Japanese, Finnish, Russian, among others.

Why did you choose SugarCRM?

Answer: DataSync chooses best of breed open source software. SugarCRM has been consistently at the top of all surveys for usability and functionality.


Syncing

Which features are synced between SugarCRM and Zimbra in DataSync Suite?

Answer: Contacts: First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone Number, Address
              Email archiving: Entire email is pulled from Zimbra to SugarCRM, located in the history
              Calendar: Schedule calls, meetings from SugarCRM in Zimbra
