DataSync Suite 0.6 Release

It’s Here.
DataSync Suite 0.6 beta is now available. This significant upgrade of the overall architecture of DataSync Suite features a modular, extensible and more developer-focused framework, making the system much more flexible for adding users and applications. Additionally, this release showcases the addition of the “DataSync Suite Extension” system, a flexible, pluggable architecture for adding features and new applications.

Features.
The new architecture allows for much more rapid development, has over 2x the speed of its predecessor and boasts the following upgrades:

CherryPy has replaced Zope to provide a more comprehensive framework.

Full Menu Navigation. Application features can now be accessed directly from the top DataSync Suite menu bar. This feature drastically increases the efficiency of navigating through supported applications.

Extension Support. Brings the ability to add new applications and for creating features which span multiple applications, such as Email Archiving.

Core Plugins. Enables authentication against an openldap server and storing user information in openldap.

More Robust Proxy. Nginx has replaced Apache for a faster proxy magnitude and more reverse options.

Improved CLI Tools. Updated support setting, making it easier to work with shell scripts. Built-in help and CSV file importing upgrades.

Improved Installation. 3 question process for significantly less manual setup.

Javascript Libraries. For increased performance and interface functionality.

Drop-down Menus have been added to Zimbra, Sugar and Joomla for fewer clicks.

Future Development.
The new architecture also allows for adding new features into future versions of DataSync Suite, which include:

Support for any authentication system (LDAP, Active Directory, OpenDirectory etc.)

Automated application installation/configuration (using VirtualMin)

Easy adding of new applications (planned: Magento, Alfresco, Quickbooks)

Full administration suite (user/group classes, password resets, complex permissioning, delegated administration)

Application information syncing

Open Source.
DataSync Suite 0.6 is now fully open source (GPL 3), and available for download on SourceForge.org. Documentation and developer support is available here.
